AMALTEA General Assembly in Budapest with Special Address from Hungarian State Secretary

On May 20–21, the AMALTEA project held its General Assembly in Budapest, hosted by project partner FDB – Facade Design and Build. This marked the first in-person gathering of consortium partners since the project’s launch six months ago. Over two days, attendees collaborated, evaluated progress, shared feedback, and explored key opportunities for innovation in the construction sector.

Reviewing Progress and Strengthening Collaboration

The General Assembly served as a checkpoint for the AMALTEA partners to reflect on the achievements of the first half-year. Partners assessed progress across all streams of work, exchanged technical insights, and reinforced cross-functional collaboration. The event fostered a shared vision for digital transformation in construction, grounded in joint efforts to modernize industry practices, foster Human-Robots Collaboration (HRC) efforts,  and deliver smarter, more sustainable solutions.

State Secretary’s Address Emphasizes Role of Digital Innovation in Construction

A highlight of the Assembly was the special intervention from Richárd Szabados, Hungarian State Secretary for Small and Medium Enterprises Development and Technology at the Ministry of National Economy. Mr. Szabados emphasized the central role of digital transformation in construction as a means to modernize the sector, improve efficiency, and support long-term sustainability.

He highlighted several key technological opportunities that are vital for driving this digital shift:

  • Building Information Modelling (BIM)
  • Big data and cloud-based solutions
  • AI-supported project management and scheduling
  • Autonomous construction machinery, drones, and robotics
  • Digital twins and virtual reality

These innovations align closely with the AMALTEA project’s mission to develop smarter construction processes and empower European industry with cutting-edge digital tools.
