Meet the Consortium: University of Stuttgart

Meet the partners behind AMALTEA!

University of Stuttgart is actively involved in the AMALTEA project through two of its departments within two institutes: the Department of Digital Transformation in Construction (DTC) of the Institute of Construction Management (IBL), and the Department for Computing in Architecture of the Institute for Computational Design and Construction (ICD/CA). The  IBL/DCT is focused on research in digitalization, automation, and robotics within the construction industry, with a strong emphasis on interdisciplinary collaboration, participation in European research initiatives, and addressing complex industry challenges through cutting-edge methodologies. Similarly, ICD/CA explores computer science methods and their applications to architecture and engineering, whit a focus on artificial intelligence and machine learning.

What is your role in AMALTEA?

IBL/DCT is involved in the development of the digitalization, automation and robotics systems for the construction sector, and in AMALTEA they will develop all these aspects.

ICD/CA is responsible for the “Parametric AI-Driven Façade Design and Engineering” part, which optimizes the design solution of the AMALTEA façade elements and ensures a seamless integration with robotic manufacturing and digital twins.

What excites you most about being part of this project?

AMALTEA is a mature project designed to reshape the construction industry across Europe. It provides a valuable opportunity for the University of Stuttgart to integrate cutting-edge research to drive innovations that have the potential to transform the industry on a large scale.
