About the project

AMALTEA aims to integrate robotics, AI, and data into the construction sector to reduce energy consumption, resource use, and waste in buildings. The project focuses on enhancing safety, improving process reliability, and elevating product quality to address the changing needs of end users and support the goals of the Green Deal.

To achieve this, the curtain-wall façade value chain will be reimagined through the digitalization of design, manufacturing, installation, and disassembly/recycling phases. This digital transformation will involve the development of various digital tools, including simulation models, parametric design, extended digital twins, robotic solutions for manufacturing and installation, quality control systems, and recycling technologies—all enhanced by AI and data. These tools will be integrated with innovative technical solutions provided by small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and start-ups involved in the project through the FSTP.

The goal is to create comprehensive digital solutions for the design, manufacturing, installation, and disassembly/reuse/recycling of façades, fully embedded into the value chain. These solutions will incorporate human-robot collaboration for improved efficiency in the process.

AMALTEA will be validated through large-scale pilots at an industrial façade manufacturing site, two real-world buildings (a residential/hospital project in Southern Europe and an office/tertiary building in Central Europe), and a digital validation of the entire value chain. These pilots will ensure the solutions’ adaptability to demand, safety, and sustainability.
